“It all begins with a sense of wonder…sparks of ideas find me in dreams. When the muse visits, color choices are always the first step, then I dive into a sea of what-ifs, playing with design possibilities, exploring texture, and composition—through all of this, the form, the structure of the piece reveals itself. Then slowly, one mindful stitch at a time, a bespoke garment is born.”

Meet your designer

Hi there, I’m Jeannie Thomma. I’ve been making and teaching fiber art—knitting, felting, weaving, and embroidery—for more than three decades. My work has been featured in national catalogues, offered to collectors through craft centers, galleries, and curated retail shops, and published in magazines. Today, I design colorful hand knits from my studio, just a heartbeat away from Asheville, in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

Because clothing is your second skin, I craft one of a kind hand knit wearable garments, designed to make you feel and look your best. If you gravitate to one of a kind garments and accessories that have an artsy-bohemian vibe, you’re in the right place. Each of my hand knits is created one mindful stitch at a time, for artistic, inspired collectors like you.

When you wrap yourself in a shawl, poncho, or cowl from my latest collection, you’ll be cocooning yourself in a wearable work of art that was created with hand and heart working in synchrony. That wonderful balanced energy becomes a signature element of the work.

If you’re drawn to color combinations that are found in nature—then my palettes will speak to you.  When creating, I gather inspiration from the four elements: fire, air, earth, and water. By trusting nature, wonderful color surprises emerge, giving life and energy to each garment.

Using only the highest quality natural wool, alpaca, mohair, silk, bamboo, cotton and linen fibers, I create garments that embody all things wabi-sabi. They are a crafted to celebrate beauty.

I create for you. When you select one of my bespoke hand knits to add to your wardrobe, you’ll feel vibrantly alive in it. In addition to the color and design of the piece, the energetic signature of the work is ever present, elevating your sense of well-being, inside and out. Natural fibers carry a spirit, an essential life force. When you’re wearing one of my pieces, you’ll feel the energy of the piece enlivening you, clearing a path for you to BE your best creative self in the world.

There’s something very special about wearing a hand knit garment.
When wrapped in a cocoon of color and comfort, your energy and the energy of the piece become one. Like a second skin, you can feel the whispers of inspiration that sparked the garment’s making, and you become a part of that story.

More of my story:

I hold a master's degree in Art Education, and am also a certified meditation teacher. I’ve nurtured my own meditation practice for more than two decades. Getting quiet and connecting with a greater consciousness fuels my creative process, inspiring me to move beyond perceived boundaries. I love yoga, and have recently learned the practice of Anahata yoga, or heart-centered yoga. It’s a beautiful, generous and energizing practice.
